Edwin Marin | Evol Arts Studio: 424.262.2006

I’m an LA Artist/Tattoo Artist born and raised in Los Angeles with decades of creative experience – drawing since I can pick up a crayon and oil painting by the age of 20. I knew at an early age I would be completely covered in tattoos. In elementary school I’d draw reapers, monsters and hot rods on my arms with an ink pen. Not until years later working as a successful Art Director did even I consider tattooing.

After high school I joined the Army, to serve my country, for college benefits, and direction.  Even with VA benefits, I had to worked three jobs to finish college and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. My first two years focused strictly on drawing, painting and art history. By that time I’d met a number of struggling artists, so I decided to minor in graphic design. After graduating with a BFA, I worked and excelled as a Graphic Designer then an  Art Director and after 10 years  I was burned out of the corporate world.

In 2005 I began an apprenticeship while still working in the corporate world. My tattoo niche is focused on creativity and craftsmanship. It’s difficult to categorize my style; black & grey,  color, portraiture, realism, neo-traditional, Japanese, cover-ups…etc. My style is a collection of techniques used in many different genres to create my unique artistic style. I don’t use flash nor just download images from Google or Pinterest, trace it and call it art. When I’m not tattooing or drawing, I’m oil painting which also pushes to  develop my creativity.

LA Tattoo Artsist,

I’ve been fortunate throughout my tattoo career to have worked with, to be inspired by, and to have learned from more than a few incredibly talented world class artists. They’ve motivated me to put it all out there, never stop learning, never stop growing- artistically and as a person. To be an artist is a lifelong learning process, a never-ending struggle to continually strive as an artist to perfect a craft – “If you’re not growing and finding new ways to to push creativity, you’re falling behind”. I’m an LA artist and I take a tremendous amount of pride in my art and craftsmanship.
